Perm paper

Permanent paper is an important product for hairdressers who set permanents. The paper protects the hair ends and holds the hair in the desired shape during the treatment. The paper is made of ultra-thin, strong, heat and moisture resistant material. Using permanent paper also ensures client comfort as paper prevents the hair from being wound too tightly, which can be painful.

Which perm paper should you choose?

Hairdressers can choose from various types of permanent paper, available in different sizes and also in different types of materials. Our permanent paper is made of paper or non-woven material, also known as fleece paper. (Sterko BV Fibre) Both types are produced in our own factory and are moisture resistant. We have been producing the well-known red box for more than 40 years!

The best paper to use depends on the client's wishes. If the client wants tight curls, it is best to use thinner end wraps. This ensures the curls can be tightly wound. For looser curls, choose slightly thicker and larger end wraps to create more volume and bounce.

How to use end wraps

It is important to choose the right perm papers and use them correctly. Follow the steps below:

  1. Choose the correct wraps and end papers depending on the type of curl. Consider the thickness and the material used.
  2. Our end wraps are available in a range of sizes. Consider which paper best suits the length of the hair to be treated and the client’s wishes.
  3. Take a strand of hair. Place the end wrap against the ends of the hair. Wrap the hair around the paper. Make sure the paper is secure.
  4. Place cotton wool around the hairline.
  5. Apply the permanent liquid. Follow the instructions for the liquid used.
  6. After the processing time, rinse the hair thoroughly and allow to dry.

Are end wraps necessary?

End wraps are a very popular product when setting a perm. But is permanent paper necessary? The answer is yes. Without the end wraps, hair can roll back during treatment resulting in a less satisfactory result. The paper is very strong and tear-resistant so it protects the hair even when the permanent liquid makes the hair wet. Perm paper also ensures the hair is wound in quickly and easily.
